What is alternative dispute resolution?

Alternative dispute resolution is also known as ADR, and those are methods to resolve a case outside of the courtroom, outside of a trial. There are several different ADRs. One is arbitration. It can be binding or non-binding. Then you also have mediation, and you also have a summary jury trial. These are different ways that the court system has come up with to try to keep cases from going to trial, not because the system doesn't like trials, but because trials are expensive, they're time-consuming, and you really don't know what the result can be, at the end.
